The Holy Spirit moves through Father Richard who cares about the body of Christ. He leads his flock with Grace.

– Mary G.

Fr. Richard was very important to our family to find a parish after moving into the area.We connected to him, his homilies and his mission. His love of celebrating Mass is missed. Vivat Jesus!

-Robert D.

Father Richard came into our lives as my husband was dying of melanoma, slowly losing the ability to move as the disease moved across his brain. Father Richard brought him hope and solace. My husband always had a great sense of humor, and Father’s care and prayer brought back some of the laughter in His life, even,as his motor skills deteriorated. Father is a blessed priest, and the church will be more like Jesus when he returns to caring for the people of God. The Catholic Church in Ft Worth and many other places, has lost its way as members of the hierarchy ignore the teaching of our Lord. It is disgusting to see a hierarchy ignore the truth and punish those who speak the word of God.

Fr. Richard is a great priest who helped me immensely during a very difficult time in my life. I was very disappointed to see him leave the greater Wichita Falls area, but was happy for him to have the opportunity to help found a new parish and school in Prosper (and in fact provided him with solid Catholic books on church architecture to help him in this task). It saddens me greatly to see him suspended as pastor of St. Martin de Porres.

-Justin T.

Father Richard had me hooked the first homily that I heard from him. He made me want to come to mass so I could learn more about how to be a better Catholic. He was very implemental in my spiritual growth!

-Alex S.

Fr. Richard made me want to come back into the church.

Father Richard had an enormous impact on our lives. We had searched for a church where we felt at home. The first time we came to SMdP and met Father Richard, we felt so blessed. Our hearts are broken.

-Cherry B.

Father Richard, in my experience, is an excellent priest who is able to preach in such a way as to bring the good news to the people in a very relatable way. We we’re sorry to lose him when he was transferred from our parish. He is kind, caring, thoughtful, and down to earth.

-Marguerite S.

I worked with Father Richard on the Building Committee and found him to be a dedicated, faith inducing Pastor.

Richard W.

Father Richard Kirkham has been a big part of my life. He was there for my difficult battle of me going through my divorce. He has been a brother and father figure to me. He is the one person that I can understand his homilies and they are educational to me. A very personable person, loving, understanding Priest. I miss him dearly hope that he can be reinstated back to the Catholic Church.

As a cradle Catholic, I have encountered a lot of priests throughout my journey of faith. Father Richard, without a doubt, has been one of the most holy, influential, dedicated, enlightening, and engaging priests I have ever met. He was a radiant reflection of God’s light and love, and because of that, his congregation and parishioners were hungry to grow deeper in their faith. He was truly feeding the flock with the Word and the Holy Spirit, and guided all those who crossed his path to become stronger and luminous disciples of Christ. It’s baffling tome that during this time of scandal in the Catholic Church, that a Bishop would remove a priest that could (if ever allowed) bring healing, understanding, and strength to the faithful, especially to those who are lost, hurting, and angry.

-Stephanie B.

He baptized 2 of my grandsons. He is what the church needs for our young families.

-Todd A.

I know Fr Richard is a good man and a good priest. We need more men like him in the priesthood.

-Shirley K.

We need all the moral & dedicated priests we can get. Everyone loves him!!

-Arlene M.

Not only do I consider Fr. Richard a very good priest and pastor, but he is a friend and like a brother to me.

-Francisco R.

Father Richard is the primary reason I joined St. Martin after moving to Texas. His homilies were always scripturally accurate and enlightening at the same time.It was a blessing to attend his Masses.

-Paul E.

Father Richard is a wonderful priest, and I know all of the kids at the school especially miss him. It has really hurt our parish to lose him.

-Kristen N.

Fr. Richard is the reason my family chose St. Martin de Porres. In my opinion he created an environment that drew people back to our faith in a time that the Church is losing members due to mistrust.

Peter S.

We are devastated that Father Richard is gone. He was such a warm welcoming priest for us when we moved cross country a few years ago. I looked forward to hearing his meaningful words every Sunday and he made us look forward to going to church! My boys think the world of him and we miss him very much.

-Bethe K.

Fr. Richard is a holy, upright, dedicated priest with a love for God, his parish, parishioners and school students unlike any priest I have ever known.  Fr. Richard has personally impacted my life, my husband, and our children. He has been a positive influence in the spiritual growth of all us, as well as a source of spiritual comfort and support during my terminal illness. We miss him greatly.

I think Father Richard will bring many people into the church and those who are in the church will become more involved in the church and be more excited about being a Catholic. Their enthusiasm will reach others and they will want to join us and be part of the family that Father Richard made for us.

-Bonita C.

We have lost a great priest at St. Martin de Porres.

-Elliott V. LLIOTT V

Father Richard brought my excitement back to the faith. I finally became a member of a church again because I loved his messages and how genuine he was when talking to him. I’m holding off my daughter’s baptism until we hopefully get him back.

Father Richard is a wonderful priest. He is humble, kind, holy and down to earth. He made me want to come back to the church after struggling for many years with my frustrations with the Catholic Church. He is one of the good guys.

-Chelsea T.

A leader in this church who impacted so many families and deserves to be reinstated back into the parish he “built”. In a time of crisis in our church FRK is only doing what is right and just, calling out the ones who are a threat to our faith. We need more like FRK. God bless!!

-Cretia B.

I believe the church is in desperate need of good honest and mentality healthy priests and Father Richard is outstanding in all of these areas. We were blessed to have him and we need him back.

-Cynthia R.

Father Richard is the sole reason we left our previous church and became active parishioners at St. Martin de Porres. His genuine care for the parishioners, getting to know us by name and learn about us. His homilies that were insightful, thought provoking and with a personal touch that made everyone interested to hear what was said and try to put in practice the things that were in that week’s readings. We are heartbroken that he is no longer able to lead and guide us in our faith path.

-Catherine H.

Fr Richard’s demeanor and interaction with the parishioners is why we switched from St Francis. His sermons were very relatable and made you more ready to serve the Lord.

Father Richard made our community a home.

-Jeanette A.

Father Richard Kirkham, the founding pastor of St. Martin de Porres Church, is such an integral part of our parish that we feel lost without him. The removal of our good shepherd was a profound loss, and we pray for his return daily. When my husband and I moved to the area in 2017, we attended a large well-established parish in the area. But when we learned about the new church about to open in Prosper, we investigated and found the temporary building on King Road. From the first mass we attended, we could tell that Father Richard has the strength of faith and character to lead a rapidly growing church, and he was the determining factor in our decision to join St. Martin’s by assuring us that we were not only welcome, but needed. My husband and I are active in several areas in the church, including liturgy, music, lectoring, education, and facility maintenance, so it is important to us to be part of a community where we can be useful. There is much work to be done at St. Martin’s, and to our great happiness, Father Richard quickly made us part of his team. As I pray for Father Richard’s return, the image I hold in my mind is him sitting on the steps in front of the alter during Offertory, holding a basket out to the children coming down the aisle toward him, some joyfully running with dollar bills clutched in their hands, some wobbling unsteadily as they hold the hand of an older sibling or parent. Father greets each child with a cloud-busting smile, often by name or fist-bump. It demonstrates his commitment to bring each one of us closer to God.

-Jennifer F.

Father Richard is the reason I am not only back in the church but active in several ministries as well. He was a true shepherd to our flock. We need him back!

Father Richard Kirkham is the reason I returned to the Catholic Church after years away because of the Rudy Koss scandal where children of friends were abused by him. Father Kirkham was the first priest I had met in years who was receptive to the needs of his parishioners and I miss him, his Masses, and his homilies.

My husband and I just moved to Frisco the end of last year and we were evaluating two Catholic Churches. At our age, we were not fond of the idea of a start-up parish but Father Kirkham was most definitely the reason we were drawn to St Martin de Porres.

-Anonymous

After years of being absent from the Church, I met with Father Richard for two hours. After our meeting, I attended church every Sunday.

-Maria M.

We finally found the church that we love with Father Kirkham as Pastor. We are heart-broken with everything that has taken place and can’t understand how a priest who had many signs from God through the years finally answered his calling has been treated so unjustly.

-Tammy E.

Father Richard had a big impact on our family and is an amazing priest. We miss his presence and pray for his return to our parish.

-Jennifer E.

Fr Richard is a vital part of St Martin’s spirituality and heart. As an individual who grew up in the Fort Worth diocese, he is the exact type of priest I want my son to grow up with and learn from. Priests such as, Fr Timothy Thompson, Fr Steve Berg, and many of the Marianist priests and brothers that helped shape me at Nolan – this is the caliber of priests that Fr Richard belongs with. Those that emulate all that is amazing in the human Church on earth.

-Rachel S.

Father Richard is an inspiration and embodies Christ in the Catholic Church.

Father Richard is a great leader for our parish and his message always clear and fresh. He’s the only priest that is not boring in the area, and the reason we registered as a family to St Martin of Porres.

-Gabriel C.

Father Richard is responsible for me being at St. Martin’s and the overall growth of the parish.

I have known Father Richard since he became associate pastor at ICC, Denton, in 2011. He is a man of integrity and has great love for the priesthood and his parishioners.

-Patsy H.

I’m 59 years old. I was baptized as a baby but not raised in the church. When I met Father Richard during his brief time at Immaculate Conception I was inspired to become an active practicing Catholic. I was confirmed by Father Richard, became active in the Church and joined the Knights of Columbus. Without him as a spiritual guide, I don’t think I would have ever embraced the Church.

-Mike B.

I have known Father Richard for almost seven years. He is a faithful Catholic and shepherd. Fr. Richard has led his flock accordingly. To paraphrase the Oath of Fidelity, he holds fast to the deposit of faith in its entirety; he faithfully hands it on and explains it, and he avoids any teachings contrary to it.

-Abigail F.

Father Richard is loved by his parishioners! He is a kind, reverent, and loyal steward of the faith. The Parish, diocese, and the Faith is lessened by his absence!

-Thomas W.

Father Richard has been the best father yet. He explains the gospel like no other father has, and he is the kindest human being I’ve known. The church is not the same without him.

Fr. Kirkham is not only a great priest but a great person. Sitting in at his service, listening to his words is like he knows what I’m going though. But after the service and interacting with Ft. I moved from a parish where the priests were wonderful but unfortunately their accents were so strong that I spent most of the time during the Homily trying to understand their words and I wasn’t getting anything out of it. I started to get lazy about going to Mass because of this. I found Father Richard at St. Martin de Porres and felt reborn. I’ve started to go to Mass on Saturday evenings and every day during the week. In my heart and mind, Father Richard saved me from leaving the Catholic Church.  It’s not that often you find a priest who really speaks to you. We need all the decent priests we can get these days.

-Suzanne G.

Father Richard is an amazing priest. The Light of Christ shines through him. He is a good shepherd and his flock misses him dearly.

Father Richard has been a wonderful friend and role model to my sons. He stepped up and helped out at Notre Dame Catholic School whenever needed, and was very involved at Midwestern State University as well. He was Very good with the youth, which is why he was chosen by Bishop Olson to move to Prosper and help the school and parish there take off!

-Andrea O.

He is a Shepard and strong defender of my faith.

-Cole E.

Father Richard was with me and my family through the loss of my grandmother, cancer, the celebration of many sacraments, and instantly became a part of our family more than any other priest we have had in our community. -Joann M.

As a start up parish we’ve had to make do with lots of used and leftover things. Second hand or not-quite-right was always fine enough. But on that Easter that Father Richard was so happy to finally purchase a new big beautiful Easter candle and gold stand for our parish, he was so proud. He talked about wanting to take beautiful photos of it when it he opened up the box at his house. First, he set it up by the fireplace and took photos. Then, I think by staircase. He moved it around into better light with better backgrounds. All tall and statuesque. He likened it to proud parents on prom day. Posing something so pretty (and expensive) with pride. And likewise, it marked a sort of milestone. A big growth moment for our parish. He was finally the proud papa of our very own beautiful Easter candle!
This is story that brought the “normal human” side of the priesthood to me. And I was so happy for FRK that he could experience such a proud papa moment that we parents get to cherish.
